pre-production planning - Everyone

Initial Ideas

Open with teacher packing away
finds students book-Name
Blows dust off
Scared, shuts down, throws book in draw
Triggers FLASH BACK
chaos- sirens, paramedics, paper cuttings
teacher leaves school
more flashback
imagines boy in school, paranoid

List of Roles

Storyboard artists- Emma & Frankie
Lighting-Emma
Prop acquisition-Frankie &Isaac (fake newspaper)
location scout- Frankie
Camera operators- Isaac & Mia
Sound designer- Isaac
Script writer- Mia

Lighting

Throughout our opening, we will be using artificial lighting as we will be shooting inside, in the evening. We shall use low key lighting and the school settings main lights to help build tension and fear in our sequence.

Props

Class room scene- General classroom props (books, paper, students work, pens, pencils etc) to create a sense of normality, clearly show that it is a school.
We will also use a news paper in the flashback scene to inform the audience of what has happened.

Script

- When Rachel experiences a 'flashback' - newspaper report read out - Edward's mother:  'If something had been done differently, my son would've been alive today.'

- Rachel hallucinating - 'Stop it Rachel. It's not real, stop it.'

We have decided not to include a lot of script as, from our research, we have found that thriller openings tend to use limited dialogue and we only have one main character therefore not much speech is necessary.

  1. OK as a start but unispiring as a presentation - be more visual, or does that follow?
